Post Mobile reviewed: the mobile provider from Swiss Post

Post Mobile is the mobile provider of Swiss Post and one of the best-known names among secondary brands. The offer is easy to grasp: four plans with unlimited calls and SMS within Switzerland, the Salt network behind the scenes and a minimum term of only one month. Prices are low, yet you give up nothing essential.

Its big asset is a sender you already know. If you would rather sign up with a Swiss brand from everyday life, you get a simple offer with no jargon. It is a provider built for life in Switzerland, though: roaming stays fairly modest, as we show further down.

With an overall score of 4.3 out of 5, Post Mobile lands in the upper midfield of our ranking. The network impresses and the price is attractive, while roaming and customer service leave room for improvement.

This ranking is based on our in-house rating system. An AI-assisted analysis checks our data against several criteria such as price, network performance, roaming and customer service, so you get a fair and independent assessment.

Network and coverage: Post Mobile runs on Salt

Post Mobile uses the Salt mobile network. It does not build its own antennas but relies on the infrastructure of one of Switzerland's three big networks. That keeps prices low and gives you 4G and 5G in cities, suburbs and along the main transport routes.

For everyday browsing, streaming and video calls, performance in well-covered areas is perfectly adequate. If you often travel to remote regions or the mountains, check the Salt coverage map before you sign up.

The Post Mobile plans at a glance

Post Mobile offers four plans. All include unlimited calls and SMS in Switzerland, free activation (in our selection) and a one-month minimum term.

The plan at 11.95 CHF per month gives you 8 GB of data in Switzerland but no roaming. A cheap way in for anyone who mostly calls and surfs at home.

The plan at 19.95 CHF per month offers unlimited data in Switzerland and roaming in Europe with 2 GB of data. Calls made from abroad are not included.

The plan at 29.95 CHF per month brings unlimited data in Switzerland, roaming in Europe with 6 GB of data, unlimited calls and unlimited calls from Switzerland to other countries.

The plan at 39.95 CHF per month includes unlimited data, roaming in the EU and the USA, 600 minutes of calls and unlimited calls from Switzerland to other countries. The plan for frequent travellers.

Prices are updated regularly. Always check the current offer directly with Post Mobile before you sign up.

Roaming with Post Mobile: what is included?

As with most providers on the Salt network, roaming is where the plans differ most. The cheapest plan has no roaming at all. The second offers 2 GB in Europe, the third 6 GB. Only the most expensive one also covers the USA.

For weekend trips and short holidays in Europe, the two middle plans do the job. If you travel for long stretches or work abroad, you need more headroom and should compare roaming terms closely. Also check which countries belong to the «Europe» zone, as not every provider counts the same ones.

Customer service and branches: our verdict

A real plus for Post Mobile is the reach of Swiss Post: the plans are available not only online but also in branches. If you prefer personal advice when taking out a new plan, that gives you a contact point many online-only providers lack.

You can also manage your plan through the provider's digital channels. Current contact options and opening hours are on the Post Mobile website, so have a look before you choose a plan.

Contract term and cancellation at Post Mobile

For the plans in our selection, the minimum term is just one month. That is a clear advantage: you can try Post Mobile out calmly without tying yourself down for 12 or 24 months.

Note that conditions can change, for example if you buy a new smartphone together with your plan. A longer minimum term may then apply. Read the terms and the notice period before you sign. You can usually keep your phone number when you switch.

Pros and cons of Post Mobile plans

The strengths:

Post Mobile is backed by a well-known Swiss brand, Swiss Post, and that builds trust. All four plans include unlimited calls and SMS across Switzerland. Add the solid Salt network, which means access to one of the big Swiss mobile networks. The minimum term is only one month, so you are not tied in for long. And because the plans are also sold in Swiss Post branches, you can get personal advice, not just online.

The weaknesses:

Roaming is limited: it is not included in the cheapest plan, and the middle plans offer only a small data allowance. If you need a lot of roaming you will pay dearly, as the plans with plenty of roaming cost noticeably more than at other providers. Post Mobile has no network of its own and depends on Salt's infrastructure. And if you buy a device with your plan, a longer term may apply.

Who is Post Mobile right for?

Post Mobile suits you if you call and surf in Switzerland, prefer a familiar brand and want a simple offer with no long commitment. That covers working people, families, seniors and anyone who likes to pop into a branch when they have questions.

It is less suitable for frequent travellers, for users with heavy roaming needs and for anyone chasing the absolute lowest price. In that case, compare it with Lidl Connect, GoMo or Wingo.

Verdict: is a Post Mobile plan worth it?

Post Mobile is a solid, uncomplicated provider for everyday life in Switzerland. You get unlimited calls and SMS, a proven network from Salt, a short minimum term and the option of visiting a Swiss Post branch. In return, you accept limited roaming. If a familiar Swiss brand matters to you, compare Post Mobile with the other providers now.
